World Goth Day is apparently a thing now?! Are we sure about this?!!?!

Y'all, they literally have a day for everything now. There's a "National Grilled Cheese Day" and "International Talk Like a Pirate Day" and are we really doing this? Is this where we're at?

If it is, I'm ok with it, because why in the hell wouldn't we want to have random days to just make us happy by celebrating random shit like "National Kazoo Day" and my personal favorite, "National Hobbit Day."

With all of that being said, apparently May 22 is "World Goth Day" and it's a day to celebrate all things "goth."

Do you like vampires and black and about every single weird stereotype that you can possibly think of (including but not limited to: heavy metal music, black eyeliner, pale skin, and probably chains, but I'm not really 100% on that one?!).

I wasn't what you would consider "goth" at any point in my life. I'm more "redneck" than anything I think, but I have always loved the color black. And yes, it's a color and don't say it isn't because it makes me want to kick you in the face.

My friend B. Davis always likes to say that I like my eyeliner as black as my soul and she's not far from wrong. Sure, I don't wear a whole lot of it now, but that's just pure laziness not a lack of love. Between the ages of 15-22, I didn't leave my house without a shit ton of black eyeliner on. My hair was always a mess and my clothes were "hoboish" at best, but damn did I always have that eyeliner on. Now, I'm simply just too lazy and get hot way too easily to deal with it.

When I was sixteen though, my highschool sweetheart had a thing for black too. Like, a real thing for black. He always wore black from his t-shirts and sweatshirt (the same sweatshirt.... that he always wore even though we lived in hot ass Florida and I almost had a heatstroke every single day) down to his bondage pants (yes, you heard me right) and shoes. Although, I'm pretty sure I remember his socks being white? I could be wrong though.

Anyways, usually people get a bad "rap" (did I use that right?) when they wear clothes like that (because people are a bag of dicks and assume shit that isn't even true), but literally any person that met him would know that his clothes might have been dark and weird, but they certainly didn't match his personality (he was exceptionally sweet) or the rest of him for that matter (he had baby blue eyes and blonde hair), he just liked the color black.

Because again, THAT IS A COLOR.

In honor of "World Goth Day" I shared a "throwback" photo of myself (at sixteen) when I decided to mess around and wear my boyfriend's clothes. Literally everything that I'm wearing in the picture was his (with the exception of the shirt.... it was mine) and clearly we all thought that we were way cooler than we actually were. (And by "we" I mean me, him, my friend Noodle, and her boyfriend).

Twenty-eight year old Katie just couldn't help but to call sixteen year old Katie out.
Oh, this is too hilarious.
Happy World Goth Day, y'all!!

For some reason, it's been a really "off" couple of days.

(I feel "fine".... just.... "off.").

"Because, sometimes, when you're having a really weird and/or bad day, and you can't help but to feel "off", all it takes is one good friend to make it better. Thanks a million, and I miss you a lot."

Do y'all ever have one of those mornings that as soon as you wake up, you're like, "nope, this morning is not for me?" That was me as soon as my alarm went off this morning. Every morning your body wants you to sleep in, you have to get up early. And every morning that you have the opportunity to sleep in? WIDE AWAKE. Your mind is just full of the important questions that won't let you rest. Questions like, "why do we exist as human beings?" And, "who was the first guy that was holding a potato and thought, I'm gonna make vodka out of this?"

I feel just fine. A little tired, but nothing major, and certainly not sick or bad. I just feel a little bit.... "off." I'm going to blame it on the fact that I'm hungry and we both know that I'm just not me when I'm hungry. Where's a Snickers bar when you need one?! I probably just need a good movie night with pizza and a few snuggles with that ole puppy dog of mine (hi, Tayder!), and I'll be good as new. Ok, maybe not as good as new, because Lord knows I ain't getting any younger over here, but you know what I mean.

Oh, and Noodle finally got ahold of me last night. But more on that later.

Let's talk numbers. Let's talk all of the numbers.

There are 365 days in a year (366 in a leap year). There are over 7 billion people in the world. And there are 7.99765121 ounces in a cup. Numbers are infinite and possibilities are seemingly endless. Sometimes things seem to be crazy and you think that impossibilities are staring you straight in the face. But if you strip everything down and stare at the bare minimum number, it just doesn't seem as scary. It's almost like if it's in number form you can climb each hill a little bit at a time.

If you think about running a mile it sounds like a major feet. Unless you say there are only 10,000 steps in a mile. So, you walk those 10,000 steps and you're done with it. You eat the salad that is 210 calories instead of the 608 calorie bacon cheeseburger that you really want. That is, until the temptation just gets to be too much and you go ahead and eat the bacon cheeseburger. I mean, why not? Afterall, statistics show that you'll only live 1,044 months in an average lifetime. And that's only if you live the average of 87 years.

You're probably wondering what I'm getting with all of this, right? Well, I'll tell you. I am going absolutely nowhere with this. All of this is simply because a friend of mine said something to me last night that got me thinking. We were talking about when we were in school together and things we have done throughout the years. I jokingly made a comment and she informed me that distance is nothing. It is just simply "one of those things." I thought about this and realized that she was right. Distance is just "one of those things." It means nothing. It's like every other number.

Here are some facts about me: There are 320 pages in my favorite book. 163 words in that damned ole catchy song- Stay With Me, that I can't manage to get out of my head and I belt out at every possible opportunity. I still love the fact that I went to the state championship in 5th grade for the spelling bee and that I graduated Highschool with a 104 in English Honors. There are 480 calories in a bottle of my favorite wine.

And when I was 15 I went through some things that my 40 year old mother made better through her love and a 1 year old puppy that we adopted and has become one of the best friends that I have ever had. I'm 5 foot tall and love with 100% of my heart. I still talk to at least 3 of my friends that I worked with for 5 years and we tease each other as much as possible. Also, there are 2.1 carats in that diamond ring that my Aunt refuses to hand over, because it would look adorable on my tiny little munchkin hand.

Here are some instances: Perhaps your best friend lives 459 miles away from you and pretty soon she will live 650 miles away, because she is following the love of her life from Florida to South Carolina. It seems like she will be closer, but in all reality she will be an extra 191 miles away. She is leaving her life and everything she has known for almost 25 years to be with the guy that she fell in love with 2 years ago. You might have even known the guy that she loves when you were 16 and had 2 classes with him. And you are supportive of her and love her all the same.

Maybe the guy that you're still harboring unresolved/unrequited love for lives 983 miles away and you still can't bring yourself to just admit it and say it out loud, just like all of those years ago, which in turn screwed you over. I mean, what's he gonna do if you tell him, beat you up? Please, like you're scared of him anyways. You know how to take him down.

Maybe your Uncle is going to take 3 days and drive you to Chicago which is 183 miles away. And lastly, maybe your brother was married to a girl for 2.5 years, only for them to separate and him to meet a girl, fall in love, and help her raise 3 of her 5 kids (because the 2 live oldest with their dad 1,053miles away). And now you are flabbergasted to realize that you now have 5 godchildren, 4 nieces, 1 nephew, and your best friend wants 1 (or3) of her own.

Like I said, numbers are infinite. Just like possibilities. I guess we will all see what 2015 brings our way.

I have many things to be thankful for {A sappy (early) Thanksgiving post}.

What's there not to be happy about today? I mean, I get off at 11:00 today. I have the next four days off. Aunt Poot and Solae are coming over tonight for movie night (Expendables 3...whoop whoop!!). Momma is feeling pretty good. Aunt Susi is happier. Jayna is at work today helping to put up the tree. Me and Dani match in our Griswold shirts (by accident). Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Greg is happy. John is up here now. I've decided to watch Outlander on Demand (all eight episodes) while I'm off. And I'm losing weight. The world is good. My world that is.

Two year old me would like to wish you happy holidays!! Clearly, we know who the cute one was. My brother and cousins claim they were, but I mean, come on. Look at little ole me.

Things could be better I suppose. I reckon they always could. People always seem to talk about the things that could be better. However, I'm a drink the glass that way you don't have to decide if it's a glass half empty/half full kind of gal. I try to always find the silver lining and be optimistic. Noodle likes to tell me that I'm the ultimate eternal optimistic/hopeless romantic. I'm not really sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but we got that kind of love. I'll take it.

I have so much to be thankful for. So much. I'm in fairly decent health. It teeter totters back and forth between things sometimes, but for the most part things tend to go good. At least it's nothing I can't deal with as far as now. My Momma. The fact is that she's in poor health, but you know what? She's getting help for it. And it's getting better by the day. She will never be healed, however I'm hopeful that with time we can get her to that level. You know what 'that' level is. Tayder is still kicking and lugging around. Poor guy is grumpy, but he's the Walter Matthaeu of dogs, so I'm ok with it.

I like that he's still here to give me cuddles and kisses when I need them. I spend time with a few of my favorite people in the world- i.e. Momma, Aunt Susi, Uncle Roger, Aunt Poot, Uncle Darrell, Aunt Mary, Dani, Solae, Greg when he doesn't have a giant stick up his butt. And so on and so forth. I love spending so much time with Momma. And I love spending time with those I am close to. Work is good. Our apartment is good. Family is good, except for the buttheads, but you know.

I could complain. I really could. But why? So much has happened. There was so much bad in me that I didn't know what to do. I didn't know where to turn. I got to the point that I didn't want to do my favorite things. I didn't want to talk to my friends. Anybody really. I didn't want to read or watch tv. I didn't want to leave the house. I didn't even want to get out of bed or get dressed. I didn't really want anything. I went through the motions and that was it. I didn't know what else to do. I just laid there and stared at the walls. I cried without knowing why. I sat there without paying attention to the things around me. My life was going without me really in it. It's been like this for years. Since I was around fifteen, I guess. And then I started making changes. Big changes. And it helped. Don't get me wrong, there are days that I still have these feelings. Everyday I have at least a few of these feelings and don't really understand why. I've never known why. But you know what? Here it is. And here I am. I'm surrounded by people that love me, and even though I don't want to burden them with my problems, I know that if I needed them they are there. And that's nice. And for that my friends, I am thankful.

Happy (early) Thanksgiving.
