A weekend of motorcycle rides, cuddles, and furbabies.

If more weekends could be like this past one, I think we would all be good to go. Go where... I don't know. But go.

The weather was beautiful, we actually had plans that went through, and I got to spend the whole thing with the hubby and my babies. When I say it was a good day, you may as well crank up Ice Cube.

It started off Friday with a movie night. Have y'all seen Cocaine Bear yet? If not, you're definitely missing out, because that shit is hilarious. Seriously, I laughed so hard at one point I almost peed down my leg. Even if I wouldn't have wanted to see it, you could of told me O'Shea Jackson Jr. was in it and I would've been SOLD.

And good ole Ray Liotta... ah man. No one can play a bad guy like Ray Liotta. I'm gonna miss that guy. He was my very favorite crass actor. The dude could literally play a piece of shit human being (which he did often) and I would be like.... yeah.... but I mean... it's Ray Liotta.

Saturday we got up super early and I got ready while Dev made breakfast. Trav and Mace showed up, we got everything situated, I loaded up our babies and we made the 1.5 hour trip out to their house. Once we got there we got pork in the smoker and settled in the pups and then the four of us went on a nice little ride.

It was peaceful and beautiful and honestly, I feel like if we had more relaxing days like that, everybody's anxiety would be down and happiness would increase.

After the ride, their parents showed up at the house, we made a trip to the meat market, and we all proceeded to cook, eat, talk, and hang out until ten at night. Then we loaded up and headed to the house.

Sunday was spent resting and not doing anything at all, because my old ass was dragging and there was nothing but rain and gloom out. Go figure, we had one beautiful day and now it's back to shiver-ass cold. That's ok though, because that just means I get more cuddles, comfort food, and movie nights.

And honestly, that's this girls dream.

If they could keep the sociopaths at bay, that would be great.

Over the weekend, D and I had a movie/show/documentary marathon. Basically, we watched a bunch of random shit. There were some real good movies in there, but the one that blew our minds the most had to be the Netflix documentary: Our Father.

Have y'all heard about this yet? If not, go and watch it immediately and come back to discuss.

I'll wait...........

Ok, now that you're back and you've watched it, you agree with me, right? What. In. The. Actual. Fuck?!

After watching this documentary on Netflix, clearly, I am an expert in all things criminal justice right now. I have also decided I am an expert on this case in general (I'm not) and since I live in Indianapolis, we all know that means I can jump inside his crazy little mind and know what he was thinking.... right?!

No?! Fine.

The whole premise is basically this fertility doctor from Indianapolis inseminating multiple women with his own sperm and in turn reproducing over 94+ children (and counting!). He never told these women what he was doing and many of them were under the impression that he had used their actual husbands specimen.

This went on for almost forty years with people believing they had their biological children and fathers together. And the only reason he was caught was because of that whole "23andme" ancestry thing that blows my mind. We've really come a long way with the whole identifying DNA situation.

It started with one and kind of snowballed from there. I can't tell you how horrible I feel for these people. These people were not only mislead (with the exception of the actual doctor), but they were taken advantage of and deceived. There's absolutely no way around that. The women, the children, and even the husbands. Because they're all victims.

I understand that these women wanted to have babies. I understand that when you have any kind of medical procedure performed there are risks and things are out of your hands. HOWEVER, are you really going to sit there and try to justify what this man did?

Not only did he manage to devastate ninety some odd families (I repeat NINETY SOMETHING), but also probably his own, right? His children technically have 94+ half siblings (not including each other) and could very well have been married to one of them. It's a small community and I very much doubt he was going to let someone know what he had done if his child had married another one. He really wanted to keep that shit on the downlow. So, he very well could've just stood by and let that happen. Then again, the way his family and the community rallied around him, it wouldn't be surprising if they're all absolutely fine with it and think he did nothing wrong.

Because nothing says devotion quite like standing by someone even though they are morally and psychologically damaged.

I don't know if this doctor did this as some sort of sick experiment. I don't know if this doctor was trying to give women the families they so desired. I don't know if this doctor thought ahead. I don't know if this doctor read one too many Nazi doctrines or if he is the epitome of religious extremism.

Honestly, I'm not so sure he thought about any of the repercussions to his decisions. By the looks of it and the reaction to the situation, I would go as far as to say no, he doesn't care what he has done. He simply wanted to be the best of the best and didn't care how many people he had to take advantage of or what lengths he had to go to.

Even if he was trying to "do something right" and help these women get pregnant, he did so in about the most disgusting way possible. These women had a choice to go to a medical professional to help with a problem. A doctor that they should have been able to trust and were assured by said doctor that everything was by the book.

WHAT FUCKING BOOK WAS HE USING?!

So yes, these women did have a choice when they decided to get artificially inseminated, but their choice was immediately taken from them under false pretenses. Some of these women were led to believe their husbands and themselves could conceive, they just needed "a little help." The doctor then disregarded the husband's specimen in favor of his own. Umm, what? You're saying that you did this, because you didn't have immediate access to donor specimens, but then you just disregard and throw out what you do have? And then you decide not to mention this to anyone and proceed to continuously lie to these people about a legitimate concern?

How is that NOT a crime? You can't force someone to have sex with you under false pretenses, but you can knowingly get them pregnant with your baby (without their consent- they have channels for this kind of thing so people can still have a choice about whom they procreate with) under the technicality of you being a fertility doctor? The fuck?

And if there's one thing I can't stand, it's someone using their religious beliefs to justify the horrible things that they have done and continue to do throughout their lives. I was raised in the holler. Dead ass center of the Bible belt. I can quote scripture and finish what someone is about to say before they even say it.

They kind of drill that into you as a child.

But, never once in my entire life have I met an actual "God-fearing man" that thinks it's ok to hurt those around him. Especially for his own greed or gain. And honestly, isn't that what this all comes down to?

Strip away the emotional side of it (even though that's incredibly difficult to do) and just look at the facts. The fact is, this man had a reputation for being the absolute best. People flocked to him from miles around. Why? Because of his success rates and word of mouth. How did he come into these results? Well, we all know how he came into those results by now.

By jerking off in a cup next door to his patients and then inserting it into them.
Fucking ew.
I hope he washed his hands.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anything negative about anyone (except the doctor, I'm saying all the negative shit about him), but it seems to me that more wasn't done about this simply because people didn't know where to start and were afraid to stand up to a challenge.

People that are supposed to care and uphold our laws just ignored these people and once it was brought to their attention, kind of just went, "eh."

Oh, you don't know how you would bring criminal charges against him for something like this, because it's unprecedented? Guess what? That has literally been the case for every single thing that someone's never been charged with before. That's how laws come to fruition. Or, at the very least, that's what they lead us to believe. I thought with where we were in the world, (excluding the whole Roe vs. Wade situation happening right now) that something like this couldn't happen without consequences.

I mean, we have literally emerged from the "Me Too" movement and for what? So a medical professional can insert his own specimen into a woman's body without her knowledge or consent and essentially be covered by the whole "technicality" of them wanting help with fertility? I swear, if I had a nickel for every time some dude got away with a horrendous crime against a woman on a technicality, I would be a very rich gal.

So yes, difficult and possibly a failure?
Absolutely.
Worth shooting the shot and maybe preventing something like this in the future and at least attempting to get some form of "justice" for the victims?
Abso-fucking-lutely.
Seriously, what is wrong with you people?

Be a fucking pioneer and use that fancy law degree or political position to do something worth while.

And once the children discovered this entirely fucked from the get-go situation, they began receiving threats and were harassed continuously about telling their story, but you want to talk about the media and how they investigate and use their sources to let people know? When a journalist was literally the only person that would listen to this story. They tried every form of government office they could and no one would even respond to them. Who listened?

A Fox 59 news journalist (Angela Ganote) and Dr. fucking Phil. How y'all feeling about that hill you're standing on now?

Sorry, I just can't even get over how insane this whole situation and the response to it is.

Ok, this doctor did get two charges brought against him for lying on paperwork to the government, but that's it? And the first known child couldn't bring up anything "personal" in her testimony, but it was acceptable for people to write in letters to the judge defending this man and saying he's the best and should walk away? How is that not mixing personal with the judicial system? Also, you took his medical license and put him on probation? Dude, the man was already retired and living the cushy life that he afforded from his forty year deception of his patients. How is this justice and how are you still saying he's a good guy? How are people still defending him and others simply standing by?

To say that I'm feeling very uncomfortable as a woman would be an understatement. To say that I'm feeling extremely uncomfortable being a woman in Marion County knowing what someone can do and get away with and no one will even bother to listen or try to help? Worse. And I know it's not only happening (and happened in general) here, but when it's down the street from your house, it feels a whole other level of invasive.

I am not a lawyer. I am not a politician. I am not a genius. But, I do know when something is fucked up and this? This takes the race in this round.

These people could literally be dating or married to their half-sibling. Kids are growing up and could be in relationships with their cousins. There is an entire fallout of this that it doesn't feel like the system took into consideration. I mean, if you know you have an STD and sleep with someone without telling them and they get it, it's a crime. So, how is this not? These people have to live with this and they have absolutely no idea the repercussions that are going to continue for years upon generations to come.

My heart goes out to these people involved. (NOT the doctor). I wish you all the best and I hope that people start using not only their common sense, but also their humanity and start doing something about this. Because this? This is unacceptable.

Fucking people, dude.

We watched movies and made chicken wraps and hid from the world.

This past weekend was so damn hot and humid that it was ridiculous. Now, hear me out. I'm aware that people are super excited about warm weather and they have no desire for ice and snow and sleet.... I get it. I really do.

BUT, COME ON, DUDE.

It'll be September the day after tomorrow and I for one CANNOT wait until it cools off some. No, it doesn't have to be extremely cold weather (although, I do prefer the cold), but fall weather? With the leaves falling and the cool breeze blowing, baking, and watching scary movies while wearing sweatpants and hoodies?!

YES.

Alas, here we are and this shit is ridiculously.... well, ridiculous.

So, D and I stayed in all weekend (with the exception of a grocery store run yesterday afternoon) with our pups and we cooked together and watched movies. We watched a few things (in between my lovable husband's naps), but what really stuck out was the movies "Sweet Girl" and "Vacation Friends." They're both extremely good. If you're wanting something a little more serious, go with Sweet Girl. If you want to laugh your ass off to the point where you're clutching your stomach with tears in your eyes, definitely check out Vacation Friends.

We also made homemade chicken/bacon wraps. Why? Because when we're alone together we like to do all kinds of things, but one of the main things is we love to cook together. Usually if I'm baking, D will just stand back and watch me do my thing. But, when we cook together we both participate. We usually always cook together (whether one of us is helping with sides or cleanup and the other is doing the main thing) and we've made up some pretty good stuff over the years.

These chicken/bacon wraps though? D marinated our chicken (separately, because his ass wanted to use ghost pepper on his and I ain't about that life) and I fried up the bacon and once it was all combined and cooked through (with D using our grill for the majority of it), it was so delicious.

Seriously, I think I have drool coming out of my mouth.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, (but speaking of drool), I have found that when I cough now (and sometimes laugh), I drool. Like, full on, I have to put a napkin or dishrag up to my face, because I can't quit drooling. It's quite laughable.

We also decided to order cupcakes on Saturday from a bakery known as "The Flying Cupcake" and y'all.... those cupcakes were so good, but they are HUGE and we didn't realize it, so needless to say, we had to give some away and share, because there was no way in all holy hell that we could eat all of those.

What else? Oh, we started watching Prison Break.... and now I want to be home, cuddled up with my hubby and our pups, in pajamas, eating delicious food, catching a buzz, and laughing and spending time together.

Ah, the joys of being an adult. Whose idea was this anyway?

Is Tuesday morning too late to cry for the weekend that was or too early to cry for the weekend that isn't here yet?

(Can we look into some food right about now?!).

Is it just me or do the weekends seem to fly by without a care in the world? The same thing goes for evenings after work. All day at work yesterday, I swear I was there for at least nineteen hours.... and then.... as soon as I got home, POOF. Evening gone. I looked down before I even realized it and was like- "how in the hell is it already 7:30?" I just didn't know how the madness was possible. But, I mean, I had a burrito and candy for dinner, so who's the real winner in all of this? ME. (And Momma and Tayder).

It didn't do anything, but rain all day Saturday and since it was beyond gross, we stayed in for the day and cleaned and watched movies. (I only minimally cleaned on Saturday, I did the real cleaning on Sunday). Most people would say that's an extremely lazy way to spend a whole day and night, but I don't give a crap; it was great. We ran through The Debt (beyond excellent), The Boss (Melissa McCarthy cracks me up.... and Peter Dinklage? YES.), and Exeter (creepy, and good). Not to mention I made a vanilla cake FROM SCRATCH, because the only sweet thing we had anywhere in our house was a can of chocolate frosting (no worries, I have rectified that situation and gotten candy since). The cake was a lot thicker than you remember, because box cakes are different, but it was pretty good. Try this one.

And of course, poor Tayder has had two baths within three days, because he is the most pitiful little ichibum that you've ever seen in your entire life. And Momma's had a headache that she couldn't shake for about three days, but finally yesterday, we got it shaken.... not stirred (Ha! I got jokes). Sorry, I'm a little delirious. I rolled over this morning and I was just about to pass out again when my alarm started going off (insert sad face here). Oh, and Shelley wants Momma and I to come to her house with Aunt Poot tomorrow, because Madisyn is already a year old (and I'm getting old as shit). I don't know if we're going or not, but I reckon we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Here's to another week and pulling through it. Good luck to us all.

In between The Rock and the UK

(Tayder always watches TV with me- Even when he's sleepy).

Momma and I watched a couple good movies over the last few weeks. The first one that we watched was when I was sick and had to stay home from work on a Tuesday (I puked up red fettuccine noodles out of my nose..... I know it's disgusting, sorry). That day as I laid on the couch with Tayder and only went outside for about twenty minutes, hoping that the fresh air would make me feel better, we watched- San Andreas.

Have you heard of it? If not, let me tell you a little bit about it. It's a "natural disaster" movie that has Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (and no, I will never not call him "The Rock", dammit) and Carla Gugino as the main characters. DTRJ is a Los Angeles Fire Department Air Rescue pilot and Carla is his estranged wife. Alexandra Daddario plays their daughter.

Let me just say that movie is awesome and if you like those kinds of movies than you should definitely watch it. Hell, even if you don't like those movies you should watch it. Trust me on this one. DTRJ is a badass, Carla Gugino is a badass, basically just everybody in the movie is a badass. Except Ioan Gruffudd. He's a douche canoe in it, but other than that, filled with badasses.

Best part of the movie? (And trust me, there are a lot):

Emma Gaines: "You left my daughter?! If you're not dead already, I'm gonna f****** kill you". Ray Gaines: "That's my girl."

The other movie that we watched was over this past weekend and it was- Spy. You know which one I mean, the one with Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham and Jude Law. The one that was supposed to be real funny. Yeah, it wasn't real funny, it was damn hilarious!! Everyone that I know that's seen it has been like- "Who knew Jason Statham was so funny?!" And I'm over here like- "Me. I did. That would be me." If you didn't realize that he was funny, then you have issues.

However, even I wasn't prepared for just how hilarious that he would be. I don't know if I stopped laughing through the whole thing. Of course Momma left the living room to do something else during both movies, because she doesn't watch anything real long, but all the parts that she did watch, she cracked up.

I must have really needed a good laugh and this one more than delivered. I'm a fan of all of the stars, so it was a pretty easy choice for me to watch it, but I've been suggesting it to people ever since. The plot is simple, Melissa McCarthy is a desk-bound CIA analyst and eventually she has to go out into the field as an undercover spy wherein hilarity ensues. Jason Statham and Jude Law are also spies. I don't want to give away too much, but believe me when I say if you need to laugh- watch it!!

Best part of the movie? (Once again, this is hard to narrow down).

Rick Ford: "You really think you’re ready for the field? I once used defibrillators on myself. I’ve pulled shards of glass out of my f****** eye. I’ve jumped from a high-rise building using only a raincoat as a parachute and broke both legs upon landing. And I still had to pretend I was in a f****** Cirque du Soleil show! I’ve swallowed enough microchips and shit them back out again to make a computer. This arm has been ripped off completely and reattached with this f****** arm." Susan Cooper: "I don’t know that that’s possible. I mean, medically."

Just thought I would let you guys know, watch both films, you won't regret it.
