This house feels weird and this week is off and what the hell is that noise?!!?!

First things first... did y'all know there was an elite Twinkie out there hanging out? It's banana and apparently, they were a limited time supply. I bought three boxes the last time I found them... and really should've bought the other two as well. Because they are DELICIOUS and now, I can't find them anywhere. I feel like Tallahassee... because nobody wants a f*cking Snowball! Where's the (banana) Twinkies?! I got beef with Hostess after this- BRING EM BACK!

Next on the list... y'all this house feels CRAZY. It hasn't felt like ours really since we painted everything but now it's really off. Everything's essentially packed up and the only rooms we're using are the living room and bathroom (and the corner of the kitchen where I have my computer set up) because come Friday, we're OUT. Like... BYE INDY kinda out.

With it being empty and basically all traces of us removed, it echoes something fierce. It's an old house with good bones... so with nothing in it? You can definitely hear everything. Perfect for if you don't want your little hoodlums causing a ruckus at the back half of the house. You'll be able to hear it and shut that shit down real quick.

We're living on a diet of essentially pizza (shout out for that spicy chicken bacon ranch!), potato chips, coffee, and soda. And I can tell. I've gained probably six to seven pounds recently and not in a good way. It's all bloat from grease and soda. Instead of a good "I gained some healthy weight" it feels very gross and blah. I can't wait until we're home free and down South because Mama is saving up for some barbeque and boiled peanuts! Protein and hearty food is where I need to be... get some damn energy or something. Because right now? EXHAUSTED.

We keep joking that this is no longer our house and we're basically just hanging out in the Airbnb. Might not be the full truth, but it definitely feels the most honest. We're just here to touch up paint and clean the fridge and tub and then we're out. Oh... and cut the grass one more time. Gotta, make sure we do that.

So yeah... shit feels weird right now, but we also know it's another piece of the transition phase and we're here for it. But this week in this house? Weird.

Also... I would just like to put it out there that since becoming a remote employee... I've learned that it really is people themselves that cause all my anxiety issues. Being home, doing my job and calling it a day? That's where it's at. I'm hopeful to keep this job for a very long time but I'd be lying if I said I felt one hundred percent secure. I'm as secure as can be (again, another post for another time because I really do like this position!) but I don't know if I'll ever feel it one hundred percent again after my last company.

So... me and my family are enjoying it while we got it and riding the wave. We're in a very "what will be, will be" stage in our lives. (There's so much to catch up on, but I only have so much attention span).

Shout out to the universe- the Glissons are gonna be South soon!

It's what happens when you give a thirty-five year old toddler a debit card.

You ever go to the grocery store with your husband and get super confused when the cashier assumes you have babies? No?

Happened to me.

Sunday was a normal weekend day for us... tried to get a little extra sleep and then ran some errands. We move slow on Sundays... it's the only day we try to keep for just us. It usually works out... but not always. When it does though, we slow move and spend the day as little goblins doing whatever it is we want... as long as it's slow going.

Last week was crazy and literally the only thing I wanted was... shrimp. Like, could not think of anything else, was craving it, had to have it. The problem though? Every single time I eat seafood in the Midwest, I get food poisoning.

Every. Single. Time.

I honestly don't know if I have an allergy to seafood... if there's something wrong with Midwest seafood (being in a landlocked state doesn't feel water worthy?)... if I'm just dramatic and my body is like let's be a little extra and make you seem like an attention seeker... honestly, your guess is as good as mine at this point.

The fact is though, it happens. Every time.

Because of this turn of events (I swear, you vomit on a man on four separate occasions *eye roll*)... my husband has "put his foot down" and has forbidden me to eat seafood unless we're in a "water state."

So there we were... buying seafood in a state that isn't known for its water critters (clearly, that foot was dislodged... I love my hubby will protest but still cook for me so my little heart can have whatever it desires), but we have to go to the big grocery store because it has way fresher food options than... our regular... well... our bit of... sketch grocery store.

We get everything we need... get the things we don't need but got anyways... and off to checkout we go.

And while we were checking out, the cashier rang about five or six items through... stopped... looked me dead ass in the eye and asked, "Oh! Did you need baby formula?" The confusion must have showed on my face... but I went with a simple, "no, but thank you."

She followed that up with... "Well, did you know we moved it? Are you sure you don't need any, they resupplied this morning and I can show you right where it is?"

Again, I answered, "no?" But, I had to frame it as a question because she seemed so confident I needed it that for a second I thought, shit, did I forget my baby formula? And then I was like, shit Katie... you don't have babies, quit buying unnecessary shit.

This went back and forth a few more times before I finally told her that we had babies at home, but they were the furry kind and not the human kind. SHE LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS CRAZY.

What was my husband doing the whole time? Fucking laughing... and probably thinking we needed to pick up Pepto for the shrimp escapade.

Once we walked out of the store... with me still being super confused... Dev finally asked if I knew why that woman had so many baby questions for me. I told him no but I thought it was super weird and random.

He proceeded to chuckle and then informed me of some of our purchases that day... two kiddie plates (hey! I needed new dishes and these have edges for my snacks!)... a double pack of baby wipes (in all fairness, the pandemic broke me, dude!)... a jumbo box of fruit snacks (they're for everybody!)... and on the list went until I realized that yes, it did in fact look like the kids were at Nana's and we were making a family grocery run.

MY BAD. But like... those fruit snacks are SO good.

πŸŽ„It's not a bahumbug, but I did think it was already done.πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

Christmas is in two days and I would like to go on the record of saying, it feels like Christmas already happened. Maybe it's the fact we had our company party last Friday... maybe it's the fact there's no snow or family is spread every which way... but essentially, we're all just waiting.

Waiting for today and tomorrow to happen so I can be off on Wednesday. Ok, not everybody is waiting on that one, but you can't blame a girl for trying.

Last week when Dani and I ran to the Costco to pick things up for our party, I found Sparkles and Steve a couple little Christmas llamas. They're so damn cute. I got a gray one for Sparkles and a white one for Steve... and Sparkles is having none of it. I don't know if he's scared of them or just doesn't like them, but he gave his to Steve and she took them without hesitation. Little chunker loves them.

Dev also put our tree out last week. Put a little Santa statue out too. I guess you could say the Glisson house is all ready for Christmas morning.

This past weekend was the cookie weekend. We didn't do Christmas presents this year (because everything is like five million dollars!), but Dev did ask me to make his parents some baked treats so we could mail them out. That's what his daddy always requests... homemade treats!

Why? Because he's a fifty-something year old single man that lives alone with his pups and works construction. He ain't exactly breaking out the cookie sheets anytime soon... so being the DIL I strive to be, cookies it is! And of course we have to send some his momma's way... can't send treats to one but not the other!

I made four different kinds of cookies (oatmeal/coconut, gingerbread, quick drop fudgies, and peanut butter) and a batch of peppermint swirl brownies. Because my MIL doesn't really do cookies, but she'll f*ck a brownie up.

I thought I was going to have to make a whole other batch of peanut butter (I made a double batch to begin with!) because Dev couldn't stop eating them. Seriously, he loved them and I wanted him to eat as many as he wanted, because that's not usually his thing. Usually, I make bake treats and he'll eat a little but he's never one to clear something out.

So when I make something he's ALL into? Take it, eat it, IT'S YOURS. That's how I ended up promising to make another batch of peanut butter cookies and another batch of peppermint brownies this week. If that's what he wants, that's what he's gonna get.

I don't know what we're gonna do for Christmas this year. I think Mavis may have invited us over (we do tend to spend holidays with them), but if I'm being honest, I kind of just want to stay home with Dev and our babies and do Christmas with just us. I guess we'll see how things turn out. Who knows, depending on how things look, maybe we'll have a regular ole WRTTMM.

OH!! One more thing... Dev informed me a few years ago that he didn't like nor did he eat biscuits and gravy. I was like WTF??!!?! because that's essentially one of the things that raised me... and asked him if he purposefully didn't tell me that until after we got married because that's some dealbreaker shit. And then we laughed, because we both know I love him more than B&G but still. This has been going on for awhile and I've been giving him shit for it. Well... last week he asked what I wanted for supper and I REALLY wanted B&G. So, he told me to make it and he'd try it... he hadn't had it since he was a kid so he was willing to see if things change.

Guess what? Things changed. He not only loved the B&G I made (hallelujah!), but he requested that I make it again this week. Guess what else? I learned that my hubby didn't like B&G because when my FIL makes it, he fries it all up... and makes brown gravy. Sorry, what? BROWN gravy and sausage biscuits? I didn't know my FIL was a terrorist but here we are.

I told Dev if he tried it again he would like it... and all I can say to that is... VINDICATION!

πŸ’™Who says you can't eat fair food and dress like a princess? πŸ’™

We're going to Bean's 4th birthday party this Sunday (but like... I swear we just celebrated her last birthday?) and the theme is... πŸ‘‘ PRINCESSES. πŸ‘‘

No specific princess... just princesses in general. I was thinking Princess Peach... but they're leaning more towards Disney and the likes. Makes sense... even though we assumed she would go Scooby-Doo (she's obsessed). With that being said... princess time.

With this opportunity presenting itself, I had no choice but to consider actually dressing up as a princess. I mean... I'm thirty-four years old, how many legit opportunities are just hanging around out there waiting for me to live out my princess fantasies? I could just dress like that all the time... but then people are going to start asking me if my hubby and I are into some weird shit (#smutreading) and I'm gonna be inappropriate and say yes... it'll be a whole thing. So we don't typically go there.

Dev was completely onboard and started googling costumes because he's an enabler that thinks my quirks and complete lack of social propriety are adorable.

I text Mace to make sure it was ok... and she informed me that she too was dressing like a princess for Bean and was super stoked I was already onboard without her having to ask (Aunt Katie has totally got you). She even suggested Belle... and while Belle was one of my favorites... that's a whole lot of fuckin yellow. She also let me know that Jasmine is Bean's absolute favorite... but I'm not trying to insult peeps... so I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to dress as Jasmine... or Pocahontas... or Mulan. All the damn good princesses are taken.

I settled on Anna... because that's the only costume available in my size... and just as a side note, I never thought I would have this much trouble finding clothes at the size I am. Clothes that hang and do whatever? Easy. Clothes that legit fit my body type and shape? Nope.

Dev loved it... but also let me know he had actually never seen Frozen. I was very much like- πŸ‘€πŸ‘€.

Cut to about ten minutes later... and we're snuggled in with the pups watching Sven being the best reindeer around... only taking a very small break so Dev could make me funnel cakes (because he's the best). We were about ten minutes away from Hans and three minutes into Kristoff before Dev was all, "she should be with Kristoff... that other guy just got lucky he ran into her first." And when Hans was revealed as a villain? You should have seen the "I TOLD YOU" look that came across his face. Hilarious.

So yeah... we'll be playing princess come Sunday (my costume is supposed to be delivered today) and my husband has officially watched Frozen. All is good with the world.

Helloooo.... from the FROZEN SSIIIDDDEEEE!!

I know that reference is somewhere between nine-eleven years dated... HOWEVER, if there was ever a time for it to make a come back, IT'S NOW.

Y'all, it is so motherf*cking frigid outside. FRIGID. Capital F through D. It was a total of -2° outside when I left for work this morning and let's be honest, it has not improved much in the hours since. Frankly, it's gonna start dropping here again in just a couple hours. Just thinking about it makes me want to wrap a heated blanket around me. In fact, I have a low tire and decided at 6:30 this morning that it was afternoon Katie and Dev's problem because f*ck.

I DIGRESS.

I have been blissfully holed up in my house with my hubby and pups on every available opportunity of this new year. Do I regret the things missed? NO. Because nothing was missed... things have been accomplished and no shit has been taken. It's been a good time.

What's new these last few weeks?

Per every paranoia the hubby and I possess, we did in fact stay inside the first day of the new year. In fact, we stayed inside that entire three-day weekend as much as possible because last year started off with a shit show and carried on throughout the entire damn thing... we weren't trying to have a repeat.

We had another visit with Baby J and he is the cutest and snuggliest little baby this side of the Midwest. Sometimes a person just needs some baby snuggles... and then to hand said baby back to their parents because they gots to get home and eat snacks.

Sparkles ear is looking better. It's still not 100% but it's looking better by the day, if only a little, and it seems to bother him a little less. Poor baby just wants to nap and eat treats and honestly... same. He and Xur mostly hang out with us and I seriously don't know what we'd do without those little assholes.

After three years of marriage, Dev and I are finally on the same phone plan. Here's what happened... when he moved up here (five years ago) he switched to Sprint (later bought by T-Mobile). I was already on my Aunt P's friends/family phone plan (with Momma) with Sprint (again, bought by T-Mobile). We've been meaning to get my number switched from my aunt's plan to Dev's for a long time but haven't got around to it (for various reasons). We finally decided we were doing it regardless because damn we've been married for a minute and it felt weird.

Last week after work one day, we loaded up in Doug Judy, picked my aunt up and headed to T-Mobile. We only wanted to have my number switched from one T-Mobile plan to another. The clerk informed us that they can no longer do that in store, you have to call "customer care." While we were there, Dev asked if he could have a couple things removed from his plan... again... call customer care because they can't do that in store.

*side note* I'm really not trying to be "that" person I am just genuinely curious. If they can't change or update or service anything having to do with your plan in store... what is the purpose of having a store? I mean, you can order a phone online and have it delivered so it can't just be that, right? *anyways*

We left and took Aunt Poot home... attempting to call "customer care" on the way and got nothing. Cut to three hours, two trips, and a bunch of dollars later and now Dev and I are on the same phone plan... with Verizon. We got to keep our numbers and honestly, that's what I was so butt hurt over because it would be such a pain in the ass to switch everything over.

JUST NO.

Dev and I got the bright idea to try new spaghetti sauces out at the store to "find a new favorite" and ended up getting one called "spicy arrabbiata" that almost f*cking killed us. That shit was so damn hot. All I tasted was tomato and heat. No spice of any kind just HEAT. We couldn't even choke down a full plate apiece so leftovers were totally out of the question. I couldn't imagine eating that shit after it set and got hotter.

We attempted to help Bonehead move a bit. We went over to his house for about three hours or so to help out but he had a whole lot going on so we did what we could and headed out. He did send us off with a shelf that's been handed down for years and now houses our dishes so fun!

Work has been crazy and going a mile a minute but that's all the time so nothing new there.

Other than that, we've mostly been staying home and snuggling in. I have gotten quite a few new tattoos as of late. I had a right rib piece put on a week ago yesterday and said screw it and had my left rib piece put on last night. Because I'm apparently a glutton for punishment or a masochist or something.

My big plans for tonight are for me and Dev to run to the grocery store (getting stuff for spaghetti-redo night) and then I'm taking a super hot shower and snuggling in. Because this gal is sleepy and frozen and not having it. Except hubby and pup lovin.

I'll have that. Happy (hopefully, let's keep our fingers crossed and put hopefulness out for the best) 2024!

Monday, November 27, 2023

You ever just been not that all into it? I mean, you were but now not so much? Happened to me.

It's official... I had four days off work... just staying in my house in pajamas... drinking coffee... sitting on a heating pad round the clock... cuddling with pups... getting snuggles from the husband... watching The Machine and laughing my ass off... receiving various and random tattoos... and now I'm back at work.

Don't get me wrong, I love my job (most days), but the effort it took for my ass to crawl out of my demon hole and present myself to the world bright and early this morning was ridiculous. Seriously, you would have thought I was Grandpa Joe... without the golden ticket.

I say that because I'm apparently at the age where I have a bad hip now? Like, both my hips were fine and then I just randomly woke up one morning, after having done NOTHING to require said injury, and now my left hip is my designated bad hip? Because it's always hurting and the cold doesn't help? Wtf?!!

Anyhoos... this past weekend was amazing and Dev and I (and our babies of course!) mostly stayed inside and hid from the rest of the world. We only ventured out on Saturday for a little bit to pick up a few grocery essentials (ie: pup food and chocolate milk) and the rest of the time? Spent together at the house. And I LOVED it.

Our poor little Sparkles is still feeling rundown but I would like to say he's on the up-and-up of it. I mean, I would like to say it even though I don't know if it's true. We're basically on a routine of Tylenol and allergy meds to try and manage until this thing goes away. My poor baby, I just want all my guys to feel good.

Dev also gave me a few new tattoos while in our own lockdown (we made alot of pandemic references this past week so forgive me). I have a shit ton of ink now and honestly, I love it. Dev essentially helps me put my personality on the outside of my body and makes me feel pretty. Pretty colors and shapes and things that mean something to me. I feel like a walking art gallery and it makes me feel nice. I think the majority of people would be very surprised to see how much of my body is now covered... Dev's family would be pumped and think it matches my personality and quirkiness to a tee... my family... would probably have me committed and that's why I wear long sleeves around them.

I'm kidding...mostly but not really at all.

OOOHHHH!! So Thanksgiving consisted of Dev, me and the pups at our house. We didn't see the need to have a ginormous meal with all the fixins (Dev is still recovering from mouth surgery and learning to chew again), so I made French dip roast and mashed taters with homemade beef gravy. Y'ALL. When I say that shit was delicious I'm not even trying to toot my own horn. But seriously, that shit was sooo good.

I hadn't made homemade gravy in a damn minute. Don't get me wrong, I know how (pretty sure they'd have kicked me out of the holler if I hadn't learned), but it's been awhile. Honestly, the entire time I was making it I kept waiting for it to f*ck up. But, it never did and that shit was delicious. Seriously, even Dev said had he not already loved and been married to me, that gravy would have sealed the deal.

And in case you need any pointers for your next gravy run (you know, because expert now obviously), just know, add butter until that shit looks exactly how you want and think it will work. Sure, you may already be using another kind of fat to start off with (bacon/sausage grease, etc.), but honestly, if you get that shit too thick or clumpy, add some butter. It'll help and be delicious.

Artery clogging but delightful.

So yeah, that's where we are with it. We had a wonderful few days but now it's time to get back to our everyday adult lives. And by that, I just mean I have to wear regular pants for like ten hours and then I'll be back home with my guys getting snuggles and snacks and lovin and tattoos and just living a good life with my babies.

Worth it.

Happy Holidays from my family to yours!!

❤️ Baby JTG for the win. ❤️

Yesterday was the day we all got together to celebrate Baby Jensen. And oh, what a celebration it was. To say once our motley crew gets together, things get hilarious (and tense) would be an understatement. It was a small turnout but it was so full of love (and soups!).

The party started around 3:00PM and of course in true us fashion, this set of Glisson's were damn near late. BUT we made it on time and honestly, I think we deserve a treat for that kind of punctuality (I literally was over two hours late to our wedding and haven't been on time for anything since that day).

Dev's still feeling pretty rough considering all the dental work he had done about two weeks ago but he was a f*cking trooper and couldn't stand the thought of missing out on a celebration of our cousin/friends baby!

The pups had to chill at our house for the day (they usually go everywhere with us but it was a pup free zone considering the party was at their house and there was limited space) but don't worry about them. They were sleeping off D and mine's Friday spontaneous roadtrip so they were more than happy to sleep a Saturday away for a few hours.

We stayed for a few hours hanging out, opening presents, taking pictures, eating and such and then we headed to the house to chill for the rest of the weekend (I'm currently writing this via my pajamas in bed and have no regrets).

And the food?! JESUS. There was so much good food to be eaten... I think I gained four pounds. Potato soup, chili, bbq weenies, potato salad (we like taters in this family!)... the list goes on. I even made vanilla crinkle cookies (dyed blue!) and cream cheese frosted brownies (with blue frosting of course!) per Mavis's request.

Full disclosure... my "blue" cookies and "blue" frosting had a touch of green to them but it still counts and I'm taking the win!

Mavis is so excited about JT getting here in the next couple of months (due in December like his daddy!) and we honestly can't wait to hold and snuggle and love the shit out of him. Speaking of Mavis, can we talk about how adorable they looked? They definitely have that new "we're about to have a baby and we're in love" glow about them and we are f*cking here for it.

Here's to Baby JTG and all the love this family has for each other.

I know we just had Memorial Day weekend and all but... *SNORES*

Y'all, I am officially back to work after a three-day weekend and I am not having it. Sure, I'm very proud and feel blessed that I have a job I love (most days) and I am forever thankful for it BUT COME ON. Let me snuggle back into the covers and recover my whole ass body. That's it, I just need another day.

You see, we had a real fun weekend. While it was supposed to just be me, Dev and our pups, we ended up spending the majority of the time with Travis and Macey (aka Mavis). We alternated between houses and managed everything from tattoos to homemade french dips to dabbling in botany.

And yesterday, the four of us took the tubes down White River for the day. I had personally never been tubing before and we all were a little lost on the process. It was supposed to be a three-four hour trip and it ended up being five and a half instead. Which was fine, except we're all a little crispy for it. Why we waited until the day before we had to go back to our normal lives to do this I'll never know, but here we are.

I straight up went from being Dev's little princess to being his little lobster. Seriously, my shins and stomach are F****D up. And D's shoulders? Pfsshh. CRISPY like KFC. I know Mace and Travis HAVE to be feeling that shit today. Mace is pale like me and Trav is a ginger so you know they're extra spicy looking this AM. *And yes, we used sunscreen, but that shit only goes so far.*

Full disclosure, I had to dress like Miss Honey from Matilda for work today, because things touching me aren't a thing. I asked Dev how I looked and his words were... "sexy... like a librarian." I wasn't aware dudes had a thing for librarians, so I'm taking it as a win. Then again, I mentioned the Miss Honey thing and he was like, "well, now that you mention it." It could be worse. I could be having a Trunchbull moment.

We all laugh about it, because what else are we supposed to do? Not to mention we have a couple new tattoos (Leo is a new dino-lizard on my thigh), a new bombass recipe, and memories to go round. Honestly, while I'm exhausted and want to do nothing but sleep right now, the fact we were going and had those experiences and that fun was worth it.

Seriously though, today when I get home I'm having a shower, putting on some comfy clothes, have a chill moment, snuggle with my pups and hubby, eat some leftover spaghetti (I made that shit when we got home from the river last night and it is delicious), and watching tv. That's it. That's all I'm doing and can't nobody change my mind.

Please.

We do this to ourselves every year... because gluttons for punishment... or something along those lines.

Can we all take a moment to come to terms with how woefully unprepared I am for the upcoming holiday? Ie: CHRISTMAS. I'm not the only person on this struggle bus, right? I have a hard time believing that everyone has all of their Christmas shopping, baking, wrapping, and planning accomplished.

I mean... it's only the 12th, so I still have plenty of time to accomplish all of our goals and not lose my hair in the process, right?

Guuuuuyyyyyyysssssss..... RIGHT?!!?!

The majority of everything we needed to "get" was accomplished this past weekend after a trip to Costco, a trip to Kroger, and a full Saturday evening (ok, not full because it was only like 45 minutes right before we went to sleep, but still!) spent perusing and ordering gifts from Amazon.

Now I only have to get a gift for... Greg... and Gabriel... and Travis... and Danielle. Plus, we still have to make all of our "treats" and get those packaged and divided up.

There still isn't a Christmas tree in our house. I got one out the weekend before last, hated it and put it back away. D and I tried to find our small one that we like, but we found literally every single tree except the one we were looking for. At this point, I really want to get a tree out for D, but I also don't want to deal with it at all.

Also, once I get that dump run I want to do accomplished we will no longer have like six Christmas trees. Another story for another day.

Adding to that, I have no idea what we're doing in the way of Christmas dinner or celebration. I'm assuming it will be me + D + our pups as usual, but we haven't really talked about it and I don't necessarily want to bring it up even though I need to.

Eh, potato tomato.

WAIT!! I do know what we're having for Christmas dinner. We got a small ham this weekend! So... we're doing ham, mashed taters, green beans, and rolls. Check that off the list!

As far as celebrating goes, we'll probably do presents in the morning, dinner in the afternoon, and dependent upon the weather, perhaps D will take me for a bike ride. Then maybe we can spend the rest of the day together riding the bike, playing chess, working on puzzles, hanging out with each other and our pups, and just enjoying the day.

Before that happens though, we need to get all the rest of this stuff done. (We started on jerky last night). This week will probably be full of treat making in the evening, because we would like to get this shit done and shipped... at least to his family. We have a couple extra days to get mine done.

At least I get to do all of this with my hubby by my side. I like that we enjoy different hobbies/interests together and enjoy spending so much time together. He truly is my best friend and I believe that this time of year would be extremely hard without him by my side. Actually, all times of the year. He's simply my comfort.

With this ever-growing list of goals that need conquered at least I got our Christmas cards printed and mailed out. Even though they weren't how I wanted them to be. I finally got to the point where I was annoyed with myself and was like just do it! They're not my favorite, but I do like them either way.

If you need me, I'll be elbow deep in flour and jerky seasonings. Merry Christmas!

Last night I really wanted cheesy steak fries.

And last night, I most definitely got the best and most delicious cheesy steak fries that ever existed.

My husband tends to spoil me a bit. Ok, maybe a tad more than a bit. Last night about nine o'clock I got a serious craving for some cheese fries. And I didn't want just any ole canned cheese/bag fries combination, I wanted something utterly delicious. (Even though canned cheese and bag fries are delicious!)

So, what did my little angel do? Well, he made me homemade fries with steak and Cracker Barrell cheese.... which I didn't even know was a thing but was utterly delicious! I ate more than I probably should have, at least, if I go by how full my belly felt, but I have no regrets. They were SO delicious.

In fact, I think I may pick some stuff up this week so we can have them again soon, because we needs them in our lives immediately. And yes, I just said that in my best Gollum voice. **my precious**

Christmas is over and somehow still feels like the week leading up to it?

Can we all just agree that the week between Christmas and New Years is a giant clusterf*ck? Like, everything is confusing and no one truly knows what day it is. Sometimes it's almost as if we forget what year it is as well. I know I'm guilty of it.

But, since we're already in it and there's no going back, I reckon we might as well keep trucking forward. Besides, it could be a really good week? We never know. I mean, if we went by the track record of the last three-four years that seems to be holding true then we would definitely have something to worry about. Alas, we've decided to stay as positive as possible.

And when I say we, I mean me. Because my anxiety has been debilitating lately and it's becoming such an issue that I'm beginning to have panic and/or anxiety attacks out of the blue. Completely unprovoked and unwarranted, I just can't seem to ease my mind and get it to turn off. D is, as always, my little rock that insists on helping any way that he can (including but not limited to acting as my own personal weighted blanket when the situation calls for it). Did I mention my husband is amazing?

Christmas was lowkey, but still pleasant. D's dad decided on 12/23 that he was coming up to spend Christmas with him and next thing you know he's showing up at our house on Christmas Eve. He had great timing too, because I had quite literally just gotten through with cleaning our house. We had a fun time and he left yesterday about 1:00pm. I was extremely sad that I didn't have Momma to spend Christmas with me, but I was happy that D got to spend it with his dad and talk to the rest of his family. My brother came back on Christmas and brought our nephew, but there was no festivities or anything like that.

So, we just all relaxed and watched a couple movies. We also talked/caught up and spent a good deal of time just hanging out, but it was nice. And that pulled pork that D made in our smoker? **drooling** Our pups really seemed to enjoy the company over the holiday, but were still a little put off by it. They're not used to other people or animals (D's dad brought his two dogs) in our house, so it took a little getting used to.

Well, for everyone except my little Tayderbug. He's a trooper that just goes with the flow. We've also started to put him in the bathroom with his bed/blanket/water with the baby gate up so that he can relax and nap and the big pups can't pounce on him. They don't mean to hurt him, but I don't think they realize how fragile he is with his age and everything. So, he takes his little naps and the big pups can still see him and check on him so it seems to be working out nice. He really seems to enjoy it.

What else? Oh, nothing really. Let's just get these next four days over with so that we can have another three days off with our babies at the house. Ready? And go.

Wednesday, December 22, 2021

It's already December 22nd and I left my mind somewhere in 2017.

Y'all, if my head wasn't attached, I'm pretty sure I would have misplaced or lost it by now (I got all the way to work this morning and realized I forgot my phone so I had to drive all the way back home just to pick it up and turn right around and come back). Between moving our company, the holidays rapidly approaching and everything in between, it's been a tiny bit.... stressful. Yeah, that's the word we'll go with. Stressful. Demanding. Trying. Nerve-racking. The list is eternal.

We accomplished moving our entire company this past Saturday and while we have the majority of it set up and can function like a legitimate business, there are still a million things to do and unpack. However, I now have more space in my office than I'll ever know what to do with and I LOVE it. I have issues with people being in my personal space, so the fact that I'm completely alone and people have to stand on one side with a counter in between us is my absolute dream. I don't much care for feeling like my back is open, but once we switched my desk around and I'm facing the other way with my back to the wall, it's much better. And I can roll my chair effortlessly across the floor. Score.

I lost a dear friend of mine this past Friday. In fact, he's the friend that I share the inside joke about the title of my blog with. I won't say much more about the subject, but I want everyone to know that I love this guy and he will forever be my little buddy and partner in crime. He may have only been two years younger than me, but he was the greatest little brother that I never had. I'll miss him terribly and can't even begin to imagine a world where he's not out there somewhere making inappropriate comments and sharing his hilariously honest opinions. I love you, JB.

As most people know (because I keep repeating it like it'll remind me and make treats magically appear), D and I decided to make our family/friends jerky and sweet treats for Christmas this year. His family always requests jerky and Momma and I used to have the tradition of making cookies/candies (aka "treats") every year, so we thought it might be nice. I haven't done anything like that since I lost Momma, but it really is one of my very favorite memories with her, so I have decided to keep it alive even if it is only for me. I'm all done with my portion of the presents (even though my BS balls didn't turn out right at all.... I'm going to try again another day!) and D is making his final batch of jerky tonight. When I go home today I'll get the people I work with (ie: Dani) together and then tomorrow I have to overnight D's family's packages out. Wish us luck.

What else happened this week? Oh, my brother almost cut his thumb off and between his two hands had to get twelve stitches. I told him to quit playing with those knives.... he didn't listen. My pups are still the most adorable thing on the planet and my entire world still revolves around my boys (husband + pups).

Oh! D and I figured out how much weight we've lost in the last year. While we weren't trying to lose weight, the fact that I most definitely needed to was ever prevalent. But, like the amazing husband he is, D doesn't care what size I am as long as I'm happy. He loves me regardless. I hadn't really put much thought into my weight loss, but people have been mentioning it to me a lot more and I found myself curious. When we got married I was 198 pounds (and yeah, at five foot that's ridiculous and I looked like a little pregnant mini-fridge. I attribute our wedding pictures to me looking like a walrus.) and now I am 152 pounds. For those of you that don't want to do the math, that's a 46 pound weight loss in a year. I don't know if that's good or not, but I feel better and I'm impressed with myself, so I'm taking it as a win.

Other than that, life has been regular and good, but also stressful and hectic. It's a balance that gets off tilter at times, but we manage and at the end of the day I get to curl up in my giant bed surrounded by my boys. So, life might be stressful, and at times incredibly sad, but it's also amazing and I'm so glad I get to do it with my soulmate.

I have a bunch of half accomplishments, but not any fully fledged yet.

Let's see, what is there to do and how much time is there to actually do it? Oh, that's right.... there's everything to do and absolutely no time to get it done. Got it. Glad we're on the same page.

#1: Get all utilities and internet switched over to our new building location for work.

What's accomplished: The utilities are a go and all good. The internet, however? Oy vey. I have never in the history of the universe dealt with such frustrating people. And I worked in a f*cking nursing home, so that's saying something. The customer service and trying to get a straight answer out of them is the equivalent of pulling teeth out of a crocodile. In other words, somebody is about to lose a hand if I don't get some answers soon.

#2: Make beef jerky for people's Christmas.

What's accomplished: We've started on beef jerky and hopefully with our smoker it will be a shorter process that will yield a lot of results. *fingers crossed* We still need to go and buy more meat, but we're only buying what we need at a time instead of stocking. I don't know if D will stick to this method, but that's what he's going with for now.

#3: Make treats for people's Christmas presents to go with the beef jerky.

What's accomplished: Well, I finally made that list of things I want to make that I was talking about. And then I stared at it for fifteen minutes and dwindled it down to a more realistic expectation. Another fifteen minutes later and that list was shortened even more and now I have a list of what I'm actually going to try and accomplish. I still have to actually go buy all of the ingredients and make the stuff though. I feel impending doom.

#4: Print off and mail out Christmas cards.

What's accomplished: So, I actually get to mark this one off the list, because it is the first task that is complete. I stopped at the CVS Tuesday after work and got everything printed off and stuffed all the envelopes and mailed them out yesterday. I'm not very happy with the way they turned out, but I had already paid for them and I'm down to the wire on so much. Hopefully, they're not as terrible as I think and I'm just being picky.

#5: Pack up and move our entire company.

What's accomplished: There's so much done and yet still a heap of things to do. I've managed to pack up my entire desk/side of the office, but that was just my everyday stuff, that's not including the rest of the office stuff and all the files and equipment. Needless to say, we're going to continue to be busy for the next few weeks. You know, moving everything Saturday and setting up the new place moving forward.

#6: Package up Christmas presents to everyone and mail out to D's family.

What's accomplished: You know where I'm at with treats and I haven't even bought the containers for the treats to go in, so that should tell you all you need to know about this situation. I swear, every year I always say I'm going to start early and get SO much accomplished and every single year I procrastinate or something major happens and it's an all out shit show of mammoth proportions. But yeah, I'm going to try to get all of this done within the next five days too.

#7: Finish watching Yellowstone.

What's accomplished: I watched the entire first season of this show (per the request/demand of my SIL) and really enjoyed it. But, even though I enjoyed it I keep putting off watching the rest of it. Maybe because it's so intense? Or, there's so much happening? No, because I like all of those things. Perhaps, I just don't want to get tired of it. Who knows. All I know is I want to curl up into the fetal position, surrounded by my pups, and binge watch this shit with a buzz.

Because this week, the weeks leading up to now, and the coming weeks? Oof.

We watched movies and made chicken wraps and hid from the world.

This past weekend was so damn hot and humid that it was ridiculous. Now, hear me out. I'm aware that people are super excited about warm weather and they have no desire for ice and snow and sleet.... I get it. I really do.

BUT, COME ON, DUDE.

It'll be September the day after tomorrow and I for one CANNOT wait until it cools off some. No, it doesn't have to be extremely cold weather (although, I do prefer the cold), but fall weather? With the leaves falling and the cool breeze blowing, baking, and watching scary movies while wearing sweatpants and hoodies?!

YES.

Alas, here we are and this shit is ridiculously.... well, ridiculous.

So, D and I stayed in all weekend (with the exception of a grocery store run yesterday afternoon) with our pups and we cooked together and watched movies. We watched a few things (in between my lovable husband's naps), but what really stuck out was the movies "Sweet Girl" and "Vacation Friends." They're both extremely good. If you're wanting something a little more serious, go with Sweet Girl. If you want to laugh your ass off to the point where you're clutching your stomach with tears in your eyes, definitely check out Vacation Friends.

We also made homemade chicken/bacon wraps. Why? Because when we're alone together we like to do all kinds of things, but one of the main things is we love to cook together. Usually if I'm baking, D will just stand back and watch me do my thing. But, when we cook together we both participate. We usually always cook together (whether one of us is helping with sides or cleanup and the other is doing the main thing) and we've made up some pretty good stuff over the years.

These chicken/bacon wraps though? D marinated our chicken (separately, because his ass wanted to use ghost pepper on his and I ain't about that life) and I fried up the bacon and once it was all combined and cooked through (with D using our grill for the majority of it), it was so delicious.

Seriously, I think I have drool coming out of my mouth.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, (but speaking of drool), I have found that when I cough now (and sometimes laugh), I drool. Like, full on, I have to put a napkin or dishrag up to my face, because I can't quit drooling. It's quite laughable.

We also decided to order cupcakes on Saturday from a bakery known as "The Flying Cupcake" and y'all.... those cupcakes were so good, but they are HUGE and we didn't realize it, so needless to say, we had to give some away and share, because there was no way in all holy hell that we could eat all of those.

What else? Oh, we started watching Prison Break.... and now I want to be home, cuddled up with my hubby and our pups, in pajamas, eating delicious food, catching a buzz, and laughing and spending time together.

Ah, the joys of being an adult. Whose idea was this anyway?

I made homemade veggie soup last night.... and that shit is delicious.

It's been a real nice treat having fresh veggies from our garden. I think I may have D spoiled with it and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to use a UV light and grow veggies in our back bedroom come winter time. I say it like it's a joke, but really, it could happen.

We're weird like that.

But this soup, y'all. It is sssoooooo delicious! I'm literally drooling just thinking about it. And since I made this recipe up on my very own (and D loves it and everybody else said it looks delicious) I figured I would put it out there.... mostly so I'll remember it myself later.

Ingredients: olive oil, 1/2 a large onion (or a whole small one), tomato paste, carrots, celery, rotel, dark red kidney beans, corn, 1/2 a head of cabbage, tomato&okra mix, diced tomatoes, vegetable broth, minced garlic, red bell pepper, salt, pepper, paprika, worchestershire sauce.

And yes, I spelled worchestershire correctly, and no I refuse to capitalize it, because I don't want it to feel superior to all the other ingredients. Like I said, I'm f*cking weird. Let me be.

Anyways.... I usually hate when people ramble, but I'm also a rambler, so I always feel the need to put a little commentary into my recipes. Seriously, even my "recipe binder" that I have is filled with random notes, doodles, and jokes. It's quite comical, at least to me. Oh yeah, recipe time.

Instant Pot:
Step one: sautΓ© onions and minced garlic in olive oil.
Step two: stir in tomato paste and let cook down (about one to two minutes).
Step three: mix in all other ingredients and cook on high for 12 minutes.

NOTE: Salt and pepper throughout each step.
NOTE: Can add hamburger if you want.

I usually always add hamburger meat to my soups/chili's/etc., but I didn't have any and frankly, I was too damn lazy to go to the store, so we just went veggie all the way and I have to say, we didn't miss the meat in it at all. Don't get me wrong, I am not going vegetarian, because I love me some meat, but I also love veggies and this pot of deliciousness certainly did the trick.

You also don't have to have an Instant Pot. You could just cook this on the stove and/or crockpot and it would have the same desired effect, you would just have to cook it alot longer. But, I hadn't used my Instant Pot in awhile and I really wanted veggie soup. From the time I started prepping to the time it was finished and ready to eat only took about an hour.

Also, I don't measure anything, I just cook everything to taste like my Momma taught me and hope for the best. I'm hoping that just like all other soups and stews that this one will only get better setting overnight, and I seriously can't wait to have more.

D literally walked into our house after work and he was on the phone with his dad and mid-conversation he stopped and said, "what in the hell is that smell?! It smells f*cking delicious in here." And that, my friends, is worth it.

I was not ready to come back to work after 5.5 days off.

Have you ever had a bunch of days off of work, but it also feels like you didn't get any rest and need more days off? That's where I'm at today. Not that I'm not glad to be back at work, but it just doesn't feel like I've been gone all that long.

I blame the fact that it's this time of year. It's the week between Christmas and New Years, so everything is off and honestly, I don't think anyone really knows what's happening or what day it is.

Like I said, Christmas was hard this year and I have certainly not been in the best spirits lately. I know I should be trying harder, but I'm trying as hard as what I can force myself to.... and basically that's enough to make me pull myself through the days. Luckily though, I can seem to make myself clean my house, shower regularly, and cook now, so at least that's something.

Also, Dani got these little trees for our Company Christmas Party this year and I ended up taking two of them home (we give out all decorations at the end of the party every year) and I've switched them from "holiday" pots that they came in to regular pots and I'm going to try and keep them alive as my new houseplants. I've heard that having houseplants can be therapeutic? And while I don't know if that's true or not, I figured it was worth a shot.

After we dropped D's dad off at the airport Saturday morning I actually had a fairly productive day. I couldn't get back to sleep once we got home (even though lord knows I tried like hell), so I called and cancelled our cable (something I've been trying to accomplish for a damn month.... they made it harder than it had to be) since we only need the internet (we do streaming with Hulu Live and Netflix), I ran a couple of errands (aka, picked up cleaning supplies), got rid of the Christmas tree/put stuff away, deep cleaned our house, and got caught up on laundry. It was a thoroughly exhausting day, but I felt much better once it was all done. I even cooked dinner that night!

Yesterday I cleaned up (I try to at least spot clean the house everyday) and spent the rest of the day drinking wine, making jerky, snuggling with my pups, making jerky, and watching Vikings.

I got D a meat slicer and dehydrator for Christmas and we decided that we would experiment with some different kinds. Between us and my brother I think we came up with somewhere around seven different flavors, and out of those seven, I only dislike three of them. The best kinds (in my opinion) are D's invention that we call Dale's Crushed Red Pepper and my invention that I have named Desperado (because it's a play on a carne asada/mexican jerky). They're just so damn good. We prepped some more last night for me to start when I get home from work today and I think my brother's might turn out to be delicious (it's a bbq). At some point, I'm also going to try and dehydrate some of my own fruit. We shall see how this goes.

So yeah, that's where I'm at this week. Basically, all over the place and confused, but just trying to pull through (and I'm off again on Wednesday, because New Years). Also, that show Vikings? Addicting.

Monday, December 2, 2019

I was not ready to come back to work after four and a half days off.

My Thanksgiving "holiday" was pretty productive in the fact that not only did I get stuff around the house done, but I also binge-watched some movies and Hawaii Five-0. The Friday after Thanksgiving D had to work, but came home sick, so I watched a few without him and continued on through the weekend.

Thursday: I actually made Thanksgiving dinner for me and D all by myself. D was there for moral support, but I did all of the cooking. I had never cooked a turkey on my own (I wanted to do turkey breast, but D insisted we have a legit turkey, so we got a small one so us and our pups could eat), but I used a lot of butter and random spices, and roasted it in our oven for about three hours and damn. I'm not trying to brag or anything, but that shit was delicious. I don't know if it's a thing or not, but our turkey was literally falling off the bone and f*cking delicious. Between that and the sides I made, we were pretty stuffed. Also, D has declared that I am to make the turkey every year from now until eternity.

Friday: Greg came home for the weekend as this is his week to be at our house, but D and him had to work so it was just me and the pups chilling at the house. I has to run to the store to pick up my mortgage payment and some dog food.... completely forgetting the fact that it was "Black Friday." Ugh. I hate people with a fiery passion, but luckily I avoided too much headache and picked up some stuff that we needed (and a couple of things that I wanted). Nothing big, just little odds and ends. Then I grabbed a burger on my way home and commenced to watching movies with my pups. D came home sick (and no, it wasn't from my cooking, assholes) and while I planned on cleaning my house and tackling that back bedroom, I didn't do it and instead we just watched tv and cuddled with the pups all day.

Saturday: I reluctantly got my house clean and situated. Not that back bedroom, but the rest of the house was good to go. D was laid up on the couch still sick, so I didn't want to bother him and cleaned around him. It's amazing to me how messy two people (part-time three) and three pups can be. No worries though, I got it all done and now there's only spot cleaning and the usual (sweeping, dishes after meals, etc.) to do on the daily. I was going to do more, but decided I was "on vacation" and once again, watched movies with D and cuddled the pups instead.

Sunday: I FINALLY cleaned that back bedroom and got the heaping mound of laundry that has been taunting me started. While the back bedroom is still cluttered (it's kind of our guest/catch all room), it's an organized clutter and you can actually walk in it/use the bed. Which is nice considering that D's dad will be staying with us for four days towards the end of the month. While I still have a mountain of laundry to complete, which I have to do this evening, the fact that my entire house is clean makes me feel much better. I also may have drank a bit of alcohol to kickstart my urge to tackle that back bedroom and by the time D woke up I was pretty.... tipsy. (Stop judging me, I do what I want!) Luckily, he was feeling much better and he took me to the store (yes, again.... I had to get Tayder food, drinks, and pick up the stuff for the dinner we're making his stepdad). When we got home, we put the stuff away and then, guess what? Didn't do shit else. In fact, while we were watching tv with the pups, I actually fell asleep and took a nap. Now, I watch a ton of tv (#noregrets), but I NEVER nap. When I woke up just a little bit later, D was cooking supper, so I showered and did supper dishes and then just hung out for the rest of the evening. I did a little cleaning, but nothing too drastic.

And now, it's Monday morning and not only am I back at work, but this is going to be a busy week for us. D's stepdad is flying into Indy tomorrow for business, so in the evening we're going to pick him up and bring him back to our house to cook him dinner. Then on Wednesday, they are finally coming to replace our bathroom window. They were supposed to do it in November, but I had to push it back for work, and the only day they had available was 12/4. Which is good, because at least it's before "hard" winter sets in. Oh, and Saturday is apparently Solae's Sweet 16, and I know I have to go and make an appearance, but I'm not sure how long we'll stay, because you know me and people.

On my list: try to start managing what I'm going to get people for Christmas this year. I'm not going to do much, but there are a few people I need to get things for, so.... we'll see how that goes. I'm not a bit excited for Christmas this year, any holidays actually, but D is persistent and forever trying to help me get through the rough patches that seem to entomb my life. I even let him get a tiny tree (that sets on our side table in the living room) for Christmas. It's a small step, but I'm trying.

So yeah, we'll see how this week plays out.... can we be back on home vacation again?

Thanksgiving 2019: what to do, what to eat, who to be with.

I'm not extremely into the holidays this year. In all honesty, holidays have never really been my thing, but this year I feel especially ugh about them. I'm not full of holiday spirit, I'm not excited for festivities, and the entire process seems exhausting to me. I don't know what to do these days, but also the thought of doing things annoys me, so who f*cking knows.

Thanksgiving is coming up this week and we were supposed to go to my cousins house on Saturday (today) for their early celebration. But, D has to work and I feel like crap run over twice, so that's a giant bust. I know I should be more upset about it, but any kind of social function depletes my entire body and all brain operation ceases to exist.

What to do: So, we have decided instead that for Thanksgiving it's just going to be me, D, and our pups. (We invited my brother, his girl, and baby, but she wants to make them their own dinner at their house too, so it's all good). I'm going to get the stuff to cook us dinner this weekend and by Thursday, we'll be prepared.... well, food prepared, not mentally or emotionally prepared.

What to eat: I figured that since it's just going to be the two of us + the three pups, I would make us all the essentials of Thanksgiving, but only the things we like and not such large portions of everything. We've decided that the essentials we will need for our dinner are: turkey (I want to get a small turkey breast and make it in my InstantPot, D wants a full turkey to make in the oven, we're still debating it), mashed taters (D's dad suggested that we get the four-cheese bag potatoes and have those, but I prefer to make homemade mashed taters and D prefers the ones I make, so homemade it is), gravy (I found a trick to make homemade brown gravy and D practically drinks it, so I'm making that kind), sweet tater casserole (the only dessert we'll need- and apparently it needs to have marshmallows), stuffing (I'm so happy that we both prefer stove top stuffing to anything fancy!), green beans (just regular green beans, NOT green bean casserole, because GROSS), artichoke hearts (I've never had this for a holiday, but decided we should try something new for us), mac 'n cheese (we debated between mac n cheese or corn casserole and decided on the mac), cranberry sauce (the canned kind, NOT the homemade kind, because I might be the only one to eat it, but Momma always made sure that I had it every single year and this will be one tradition that I keep), and rolls (the Hawaiian sweet rolls, because they're the best and ain't nobody got the effort to be making homemade everything).

Who to be with: Like I said, it's just going to be me, D, and our pups. Of course, our little furchildren will get their own plates and celebrate with us, because we're basically just a married couple with three children. Our children just have four legs, fur, and are the cutest versions of babies EVER. This way, we can all gorge ourselves on food, while wearing ridiculous sweatpants and pajamas, and take naps while drinking booze and snuggling with the babies.... in between all of my mental breakdowns.

I've never made an entire holiday meal by myself before. I've helped Momma for as long as I can remember, but I've never done it solo. I'm pretty sure D is going to help me do the cooking, but it feels compeltely different without Momma here to direct me and supervise. I say that, because no matter how or what I screwed up, she always knew how to fix it. Last year she taught me how to make the Christmas ham, and while I don't know if I'll ever make one again, because she's not here, she did in fact teach me how to make it.

I've never made a turkey all by myself though. That's why I wanted to just do a breast in the InstantPot, but if we decide to do a full turkey, I guess I'll be googling some shit and possibly getting a roasting pan? Luckily, Momma always told me the Neely's on The Food Network always have my back, so I'll probably grab their turkey recipe. Speaking of roasting pan, I also need to get some more tupperware bowls (and disposable pans and maybe those fancy holiday plates that separate the food for you?), because ours are non-existent at this point. I swear, we have a bunch of stuff and then I go to find it and it's not there. I don't even know what happens to it.... maybe ghosts? But, cool ghosts. Like, the circa Civil War era ghosts. Those are the kind of ghosts to have if you're gonna be haunted. I would say that I want Momma to haunt me, but I really hope that she's at peace, so if we have ghosts, it's definitely those kind.

Sorry, I'm just rambling at this point. So yeah, that's the plan for Thanksgiving this year. I'm planning on eating, drinking, and crying my way through it. And D is going to help.... now if he would only go down to part-time.

Monday, November 11, 2019

I think I'm gonna make shepherd's pie and cabbage for dinner.

I have a hard time deciding what to make for dinner most nights. It's not that I'm one of those "indecisive" people when it comes to food, but I try to make/think of things that D will also like to eat. Since he's a pickier eater than I am (he doesn't like mushrooms.... which I love!!), I usually just ask him what he wants, and that's that.

But, every now and then, I think of something I really want and I say screw it, that's what we're eating. To be honest, with my emotions being every which way lately, I've been ordering more takeout than I should, because cooking and then cleaning it up seems like a never-ending chore. Ugh.

Tonight though, I think I have made the decision. I'll run by the store on my way home to pick up dog food and wine (the essentials of my household), and while I'm there, I think I'll pick up the stuff to make shepherd's pie and cabbage. For some reason, I really want some damn cabbage, and since it's rainy and gross outside, shepherd's pie seems like a good choice.

Then again, I desperately need to clean my house, so hopefully I'll get that all done, do a load of laundry (that reminds me, I need to pick up some laundry soap too!), cook supper, and be done by the time D gets home, so we can just gorge on delicious food, booze, and watch movies while cuddling with our dogs.

Fall off the bone tender and delicious.... let me eat them all.

D is a great cook. Well.... technically I "cook" and bake, but he's all about that grilling. Ever since he got his charcoal grill (my poor little electric grill finally met his maker), we've basically had all of our food cooked on that.

The other night he made some beef ribs (if I'm going to eat ribs, beef ribs are my favorite!) and they were so damn delectable that I'm pretty sure I could've eaten fourteen pounds of them. Sure, I would've puked later, but it probably would've been worth it. And I would have gained like ten pounds, but again, worth it.

I loved them so much that I actually got the rest (I accidentally bought the two slab when I picked them up at the store) out of the freezer while I was on lunch today, so hopefully I can talk him into making me some more of them (I can) tonight.

It's probably going to be kind of hard to eat them since I'm still pretty sore and am having trouble chewing, but he makes them so damn tender that it's most definitely worth a shot! (Oh, and I also picked up a few movies from the library today, so we'll have something to watch while I devour those delectable little morsels of meat.)
